Regular events

Mondays, 3.45pm – 4.45pm (2-4 year olds); and 4.45pm – 5.45pm (5-11 year olds): Petite Productions. Fast paced theatrical fun. Contact www.petiteproductions.co.uk/contact for pricing and more information.

Tuesdays, 7.30pm – 9pm: hSpark Radio. Free to anyone who wants to get involved helping or making programmes. Beginners or those with experience welcome.

Wednesdays, 10.30am – 11am: Rhyme Time. Free songs and rhymes for under 5s (running through the May half term holidays).

Fridays, 1.30pm – 3pm: Story Time, with activities and songs for under 5s (free, term time only).

Special events

Children and Family Film Screening, 3 June, 1pm – 3pm

A free drop in film suitable for children and families. For licensing reasons, we can’t tell you the name of the film here, but ask at the Library for more details! No need to book in advance, just drop in.

National Bookstart Week Activities, 7 June, 10.30am – 11am

Free fun activities for under 5s to celebrate this year’s National Bookstart Week. Book online in advance or at the Library www.walthamforestlibraries.eventbrite.com

Beginners Sewing Workshops, 9 and 16 June, 10.30am – 1.30pm

Learn all you need to know to get started, from how to thread the machine, to which stitch to use when. The first lesson will be spent learning the basics, and in the second you will get to make a simple tote bag! Sewing machines and materials provided (though you can bring your own machine). £75 for two three hour lessons. Contact Claire@house-of-stitch.com to book.

A Precious Gift, 16 June (Session 1 3.45pm – 4.30pm (currently sold out); Session 2 5pm – 5.45pm)

A free event for 6-14 year olds, built around a story to develop talents with the author Cristina Martel. Spaces should be booked in advance at the Library or at www.walthamforestlibraries.eventbrite.com

Art to Foster Creativity, 17 June (Session 1 1.45pm – 2.30pm; Session 2 3pm – 3.45pm)

A free event for 6-14 year olds, giving them the chance to take part in an art activity inspired by Matisse, aimed at developing listening and communication skills and empathy. Spaces should be booked in advance at the Library or at www.walthamforestlibraries.eventbrite.com

Groups

Adventures in Writing, 3 June, 11am – 1pm

A new writer’s group at the Library is inviting new and experienced writers to join to improve their skills, develop, share, encourage and inspire others. Sessions are open to all with a small charge of £2 for room hire, tea and coffee. Contact Mike Schirn at underneathearches@yahoo.com

Hale End Library Monthly Reading Group, 16 June, 2pm – 3pm

Meeting the third Friday of every month, the group is a chance to get together with other book fans! Ask at the Library for details of the next book being discussed.

Silver Surfers

One Wednesday every month (10.30 – 12noon) the Library offers IT support for those aged 55 and over. Ask at the Library for dates, more information and to book a session.
