Update from TfL on Works at Highams Park Station

Please find below a message received from TfL regarding the ongoing works at Highams Park Staion

Dear Stakeholder,

As you know we have been carrying out works at Highams Park station since October 2016 to improve the station’s ambience, safety, security and customer facilities. The work includes the upgrade of customer information and security systems, as well as general repairs, maintenance and refurbishment of public areas.

Further to my email of 20 February, I am writing to advise that we have encountered some problems around the construction of the new station pavilion due to unexpected cables being found buried underground. These have had to be moved which has delayed the completion of the new structure. This means that we now expect to open the pavilion for customer use by the end of June 2017. Regrettably, this means step-free access to northbound platform 2 will continue to be unavailable until the end of June.

The advice for customer requiring step-free access to/from this platform remains the same. For northbound step-free journeys to Highams Park, customers should continue to travel on a Chingford service and return on a southbound train. For northbound step-free journeys from Highams Park, customers should speak to a member of station staff about alternative travel arrangements.

Other station upgrade works that are nearly completed include new CCTV, public address system, customer information systems, help points and associated communications equipment. Ambience-improvement work includes cleaning, painting and repairs to walls, floors, doors and windows.

Where possible works will be carried out during the day but some activities will need to be carried out at night for safety and operational reasons. We apologise in advance for any disruption caused and would like to assure you that we are firmly committed to working with local residents and businesses to ensure the impact of our works is kept to an absolute minimum.
