The Council has released details of the Highams Park Play Area Design

We have received an update from Ben Frearson of the Council’s Parks Department on the new play area in the  Highams Park, as per below and  you can view the designs in the attachments to this email (and on the news page of our website at www.highamsparkplan.org )

As promised please find attached the design and layout for the Highams Park play area.

  • Wherever possible the design reflects the feedback gathered from the public consultation and input from the Council. Obviously it is not possible to incorporate everything that was requested/suggested!
  • All the equipment is new and the majority of it is made of wood.
  • The surfacing is artificial grass (similar to Vincent Road play area).
  • When assessing the design consideration should be given to the ‘unseen’ improvement work that will be carried out to the play area ie part of the budget has been allocated to dealing with the flooding issue by installing an drain pipe to intercept water flowing into the play area from the adjacent slope.
  • The installation is due to commence in early/mid June and be complete by the end of July.

Although it is not possible to make changes to the design at this stage comments on the design are welcome from anyone. The feedback will be taken on board and taken into consideration for any future projects/further developments to the play provision in Highams Park.
